Irene's mom and May have the same birthday! what a lovely coincidence I felt honoured to have the chance to make them birthday cakes!
The 2 cakes took me approx 4 hours to make..2 hours each! haha including the cake cooling time. i made Mays cake first..then irene's mom. However, both cakes were made by the same cake recipe, had same fillings except that i added more suger in every step in the process of making irenes mom's cake.
In conclusion, i really need to work on my cake decorating skills ..need to exercise my artistic cells, if they do exist! and lastly. It's nice to have an experience like this..busy, but i enjoyed it
The recipe i used for these cakes are from " 500 chocolate delights" mom bought for me at Stevens. The actual name of the recipe is called "cappuccino cupcakes". However, the " cappuccino" bit of the recipe is only the icing thats supposed to be glazed oh the top of the cupcakes. i substituted the icing with whipped cream.. thus these cupcakes dont deserve the to have" cappuccino" in their name
cupcakes before decoration were like this..ugly huh the inside of the cupcakes were really moist when they were just taken out of the oven..after 20 mins the inside bit was set, it became more firm
My first attempt at chocoalte lava cake aka chocolate molten cake . Success!
I was surprised how simple it is to make this dessert..always thought it'd be complicated to make as it tastes SO nice!(with ice cream! ) the first time i tried a chocolate molten cake was when i was 14,15 years old? i had it at chili's ..a popular american chain restaurant. It completely amazed me, with its beautiful presentation ( the cake was huge..about the size of a fuji apple!) and its great taste. Since then it has remained on my top 5 favourite dessert list lol and im not really sure what the other 4 desserts are just yet.
yea so anyways. Lewis came over for dinner the other night. i made this for lewis and daphne.
only took pic of one of the two servings..because i forgot to take the over one >.<
what a weird format iv chosen to put my photos..lol um. the strawberry alarmclock has nothing to do with strawberries in my opinion. not the deco, not the food..haha. i ordered carrot cake(again), it was abit dried up..both the icing and the cake itself. was still edible, considering its delicious price: $4.50. pretty cheap compared to other cafes!
Went to visit irene at work with May the other day, at birkenhead esquires. Irene's got a new job...as a barista! such a cool job..saw her busy making coffee for customers..^^認真的女人最美麗
she made us this yummy tasting coffee! mm i actually forgot its name...it tasted like half chocolate half coffee...i remember may saying something like.."white chocolate..xxx" lol i dont really know the differences in coffee kinds >.< need to work on that ANYWAY, the coffee smelled so nice and it tasted yumit wasnt too sweet which was just what i wanted!irene even made us three little hearts on the 奶泡(?) so cuute! she made them for us because we are special..right? .....or maybe she makes those on every cup of coffee she serves?
Heres what may ordered Danish pastry
The pastry was cold/hard when it was served..they probabaly just took it straight out of the display area. we called the waitress to warm it for us..then. i didnt get to taste it so dont know how its like. But it was probably pretty good as May finished most of it
This is what i ordered-carrot cake. like alwaysss..i always order carrot at cafes when i like something i just stick to it! never wants to change. mmm thats bad. dessert-wise.
the cake was abit sweet..comparing to all the carrrot cakes iv eaten at other places but it was good^^ that tiny thin slice of carrot cake costs about $5 i remember? $5.40. i think. but we were full so didnt finish it..
lol bus guess what? it only cost us $6.90 for all we ordered! maybe its because we'r irenes friends hence we'r special or mayb its just because it was close to the closing hours of esquires this visit was nice overall..def come back here with mommy next time !
